MIDDLE SCHOOL

Dear MS Parents, Students, and Staff,

Thorpe & Mathias Celebrated Its 70th Anniversary:

On Friday, March 20th, all Middle School students participated in the annual Thorpe & Mathias: Track & Field event as part of their Physical Education unit. The entire school was divided into two teams: Thorpe (blue) and Mathias (yellow), continuing a long-standing tradition of friendly competition and school spirit.

Throughout the unit, students selected three events from shot put, long jump, high jump, sprints, and hurdles. This allowed them not only to develop and demonstrate their motor skills, but also to put into practice their self-management and self-navigation skills, challenging themselves both physically and mentally.

This year’s tournament was especially meaningful, as it marked the 70th anniversary of this cherished event at the school. Reaching such a milestone made the day even more memorable, celebrating decades of participation, teamwork, and athletic growth within the school community.

Focus on Learning

Grade 7 Spanish - Levels 3 & 4: Students explored poetry through odes and haikus. They wrote their own poems, which were later displayed for a gallery walk. During this activity, students analyzed each other’s work, identifying literary devices and sensory imagery. The task concluded with a final reflection on their learning and creative process.
