SUPERINTENDENTS' MESSAGE

Hello, Lincoln Community.

When I spoke to those of you who were able to attend our new parent orientation, I talked about the importance of a three legged stool. It means that the success of your child's education rests upon a platform of three legs and without any one the stool will collapse.

One of those legs is the school. One is the parents, and the third is the child.

So today I actually want to focus on that leg of the stool that is the parent community, the family.

Over the past few weeks, we've had the opportunity to have parent coffees in both the Elementary School and Middle School, and evenings where grade levels have come together in the High School to get to know your leadership and to learn a little bit more about our program here at Lincoln.

On next Wednesday, the Middle School and the Elementary School will be holding their back to school nights with the same purpose, just a little opportunity to share with you about our program and what we do here.

Look for more details to come soon from the divisional offices and in the calendar.

Contemporary research tells us that when parents are more involved in their child's education, their children have a greater chance of success. So please come to school whenever you're invited, whether it is to come in for a an opportunity to learn more about our programs, or for an opportunity to see your child's work showcased, a celebration of learning, or even when you're coming on campus just to connect with other parents.

Our PAL is very active and they're always putting up more opportunities for involvement. PAL stands for "Parents at Lincoln". They run a number of walking groups, knitting clubs, book clubs and tons of other activities that may meet your interest.

One week from today is September 2nd and our pal will be hosting a Bingo Night, so please do plan to join us and come out and bring your children and spend a little bit of time after school. It starts at 5 p.m., to play Bingo, meet new parents and have some fun together!

Thank you so much. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week at Lincoln. Bye.

Warm regards,

Dr.Nada Collins
