Dr. Nada Collins shares Lincoln updates to celebrate our community.
SUPERINTENDENTS' MESSAGE
What's up, Lincoln? I hope you had great conferences this week. I hope you had a good opportunity to come in with your children and celebrate all the success in their learning over the course of the year and to set some goals for that final push as we head towards June and the end of the academic year.
This week we've been celebrating Earth Week, so we had a big eco summit with area schools here on Saturday. We've had an e-waste drive, so students over the course of the week have been bringing in batteries and light bulbs and other materials to recycle towards electronic waste. On Wednesday, for the second week in a row, our students and our faculty and staff, our parent community walked, biked, carpooled, or took the train or bus to come to school in honor of being thoughtful. We encourage and challenge those of you are able to continue doing that on Wednesdays throughout the year. We finished up our Earth Week with wearing green and with putting an eco poem in our pocket in honor of our April Poetry Month.
This week has really been about an opportunity to raise awareness about sustainability and about our responsibility for taking care of our home both today and the future. There's a list of bingo challenges you'll see below, and we encourage you to keep thinking about ways that you can be responsible: five minute showers, meatless Monday, picking up trash, carpooling when you can. Looking at ways that you and your family can continue to make a difference and that we as a Lincoln community speak out about our commitment to taking care of Earth.
I am so excited that next week we will be hosting Derek Dalasta, our new elementary school principal and Dave Nelson, our new high school principal on campus for the whole week. While they don't officially start with us until the next school year in July of 24, this is their opportunity to get to know our community, to get to meet you, to get to see a little bit of Buenos Aires, to connect with our faculty, our staff, our parents, our students and our board.
We are looking forward to hosting them. Please lock your calendar on Tuesday, April 30th, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.. All parents in our community will be invited to join us in the fishbowl next to the cafeteria to meet our principals and to welcome them and share a little bit about our home with them.
Thank you and have a great weekend.
