middle school

Dear MS Parents,
Welcome to a new school year!

Classes for all students start on Tuesday, August 6th. We look forward to another exciting year of learning in our middle school.  Below are some important reminders to help you and your child be prepared for the start of the year.

Drop Off and Dismissal

MS arrival and dismissal will be done through our gate on Parana Street. The gate will open at 7:45am every day for drop off. Classes begin at 8am each morning. Dismissal is at 3:30pm every day, except for Wednesdays. Wednesday is early dismissal at 2:00pm.
We ask that you please complete the following dismissal form
This form needs to be signed and handed in to the MS office on Tuesday, August 6th.
We are aware that there may be dismissal changes throughout the year so we ask that any changes be informed via email to msoffice@lincoln.edu.ar

Day 1

On our first day of school, we will post advisory lists near the entrance and students will gather on the MS field for a welcome before dismissing the students to go with their advisors who will help them to get settled in.

Lockers

Students will be assigned a locker number if and when they bring in a lock. To keep their personal items safe, students should not use a locker without a lock. Locks can be of any type and students will be asked to leave either a copy of the key or the combination to their lock inside a closed envelope with their name on it. These envelopes will be kept locked up in the MS office in case students should forget their combinations or lose their key. By doing this we are trying to minimize the amount of locks we need to cut off lockers due to lost keys and forgotten combinations.

Care for Personal Items

Care for Personal Items:  MS students move around in a more independent manner.  This makes taking care of one’s personal belongings a greater challenge than it was in elementary school.  We recommend that you label student laptops and chargers, bags, water bottles, earphones and jackets with the student’s name to help facilitate the return of the item if it were left in an unexpected location.

Laptops

Students are expected to bring their laptop fully charged to school every day, from the first day of school. They should also have a sleeve / or slip cover to protect their laptop when walking from one room to another.

Cell Phones

We are aware that many MS students have a cell phone, however, these should remain turned off and stored in student lockers during the school day.  Students are not allowed to use their phones for any reason during the school day and any necessary communication between students and their parents should come through the MS office.  This helps to promote positive social interaction between students and to give students important time disconnected from social media and other distractions, allowing them to focus on learning and personal relationships.  Please help us as parents by not messaging your child during the day and letting them know that you will be available to talk about their school day in the afternoon when they come home from school.

Cafeteria

If you have not yet signed up your child to have lunch in the school cafeteria and wish to do so, please complete the following form (cancellations can be done on this same form). You can access more information on our cafeteria and view each month's menu on the school webpage. If you do not wish to sign up for the entire month, but would like to have your child eat in the cafeteria on a certain day, lunch tickets can be purchased from Ms. Monges in the MS office.

Attendance/planned absences

Students should be in attendance every school day, unless they are ill.  Many studies show a strong correlation between student attendance and academic success. We request that parents not extend their holidays and remind families that Argentine law limits absences (of any kind) to 20 days during the school year.  If you know that your child will be missing school for any reason on a specific date, please inform the office (msoffice@lincoln.edu.ar). Your child will be given a planned absence form to complete. This way teachers will be notified and your child will be able to gather the assignments he/she will be missing.

Contact information/Guardianship form

Please make sure the school has your most up-to-date contact information.  If you change address or phone numbers please let us know about this. If at any time during the school year both parents temporarily leave the country, please complete this form indicating the estimated time you will be away and contact information on who will be your child's guardian during this time and hand it in to our MS office.
