A lot has been happening in MS these last couple of weeks.  MS students have participated in SAAC tennis as well as a swimming invitational.  MS also celebrated our annual Thorpe and Mathias track and field event.  On the afternoon of April 3rd, students got the opportunity to sign up for three different track and field events while showing their school spirit and sportsmanship.  We would like to thank our PE teachers, coaches and staff members who helped to make this afternoon a fun, spirit filled event.

Career exploration day

On April 30th MS students had the opportunity to hear about different career paths and the passion our parents feel for the fields of work they have chosen.  Students commented that they found the sessions to be interesting and a good opportunity for them to think about areas they might like to explore professionally some day.  We would like to thank our wonderful Condor parents who made our MS careers day a memorable event.

Future Innovators Take Center Stage at Lincoln Technology and Innovation Showcase

The Lincoln Technology and Innovation Showcase buzzed with excitement as students from the MS Design, Multimedia, Tech and Computer Science courses presented their work to the school board. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to showcase their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Poem in your pocket day

On April 26th we celebrated “poem in your pocket” day.  It is an opportunity for students and staff to select (or write an original) poem and share it with others in classes, during breaks or during lunchtime activities organized by the library.  Below are photos of a group of our grade 7 & 8 girls who memorized and recited a poem about the Earth in Spanish.  They did an amazing job and we are grateful to our librarians and language teachers who help to promote this activity.

MS Learning Highlights

  • Registro personal
  • Comprensión y reflexión
  • Desarrollo de habilidades
  • Aprendizaje continuo
  • Establecimiento de metas
  • Referencia futura

G7 Science: 7th graders have been working hard over the past month to prepare for their endangered species debate. In science class, they have researched endangered species and their importance to the ecosystem. In English class, the students have been sharpening their debate skills. The librarian, Mercedes Peña, also helped students with their research and finding related and reliable sources. Over the next couple of weeks the students will continue to engage in debates to argue which endangered species would be the worst to go extinct based on their role in the ecosystem and propose solutions to help save them.

G6 Tech Foundations: Students in tech foundations are working on a research project to answer questions related to digital citizenship.  They plan on sharing their research and multimedia work with our grade 5 students and parents at the end of the semester.  To help them connect their ideas with the current understanding and needs of their peers, they met with Ms. Belinda’s grade 5 students and will be meeting with community experts to help them make sure their presentations are relevant and interesting for our Lincoln community.
