MESSAGE FROM THE MS PRINCIPAL 

Dear MS Parents, Students and Staff, 

Last week we celebrated mathematics in middle school!  

With the support of Mr. Jobe, last Friday, 12 MS students participated in a MathCounts Competition. These students were selected from a pool of 28 students via trials and represented Lincoln against Nido de Águilas en Santiago, Chile. 

The competition consisted of four rounds: two individual rounds, one team round, and one head-to-head elimination round. 

 

 

 

The top 3 individual scorers were:

-Ricky Lan - Grade 7
-Ena Kagoshima - Grade 6
-Simon Yepes - Grade 8

Congratulations to all of the MS students that participated!

Learning Highlights

Grado 6:  Ciencias Sociales - Unidad sobre la geografía de América Latina.  Los alumnos de Ciencias Sociales 6to grado han estado trabajando en la segunda parte del proyecto de Minecraft. Actualmente, están intercambiando recursos naturales para construir un monumento con requisitos específicos. Más adelante van a construir redes de transporte que conecten los diferentes biomas en la plataforma. Los objetivos de este proyecto son repasar los biomas y recursos naturales presentes en América Latina, además de comprender cómo el aprovechamiento de recursos naturales, su intercambio y la inversión en infraestructura ayudan a desarrollar comunidades prósperas. A través del proyecto, se enfatiza el trabajo en grupo y la colaboración.

Social Studies:  7th grade students are learning to analyze data and identify research questions to guide their next round of research/analysis   8th grade students are learning to analyze data from the perspective of a physical geographer and human geographer.  Learn more here

Reminder:  With the hot weather we have been experiencing it is important that all students bring water bottles and make sure they are drinking water throughout the day.  Please check that your child has a water bottle that they can use at school.
