MIDDLE SCHOOL

Dear Parents, 

We had a wonderful time this week celebrating creativity in our Grade 7 & 8 Drama and Design showcase.  We thank all of the parents who came and supported our students as well as Ms. Christa, Ms. Jolene, Mr. Edu and Mr. Nico who worked with them throughout the year.  We saw students take risks on stage and are proud of those that stepped up so the show could continue with some unforeseen challenges.  We were also able to enjoy student automated models (Design Technology) and Multimedia presentations.  

 

 

Grade 6 Social Studies:  As part of the unit on the Sustainable Development Goals( SDGs). 6th grade students had the unique opportunity to meet Sr. Luis F. López-Calva, Global Director for Poverty and Equity at the World Bank. 

He shared his real-world experiences working to reduce global poverty and promote fairness. 
Students were inspired by his message and asked thoughtful questions, making powerful connections between their studies and global issues.

 

 

Focus on Learning

 Middle School Lifesaving Unit 

Our Middle School students have been actively engaged in a powerful Lifesaving Unit this month during Health & Physical Education. 
In the pool, they are learning essential water safety skills such as treading water, rescuing techniques, and even swimming with clothes to simulate real-life scenarios.

Outside the pool, students participated in an interdisciplinary workshop with our incredible school nurses—thank you Fran, Sofi, and Maru!—where they learned how to perform CPR, use an AED, and apply the Heimlich maneuver for choking emergencies.

These experiences are helping our students become agents of change—equipped with the knowledge and confidence to help others in critical situations.

 

Grade 6 Spanish 1-2:  After group reading with leveled books, students are now working in pairs to analyze and identify the “elementos del texto narrativo” from their stories. Using information from their books, they demonstrate their understanding through creative, hands-on activities presented on a poster.

This differentiated instruction approach allows each pair to build on their reading and comprehension skills, share their ideas, collaborate effectively, and apply what they have learned in an artistic way. 

MS EAL: Our EAL students had a great time at the library this week! To get ready for the break, they got to pick out some cool books. But that's not all—the library staff had a fun activity ready for them to do during the break.

The students took home a road map to complete with the books they read. After that, they went on a super fun scavenger hunt! This was a great way to practice what they learned about literary devices in the EAL class and give their brains a good workout.

A big thank you to Ms. Mechi and Mr. Agus! They always welcome us with big smiles, and it makes visiting the library so much better. Our EAL students truly love going to the library!
