SUPPLIES & DEVICE POLICY

  • All high school students at Lincoln are required to have a graphing calculator for mathematics class.
  • The high school mathematics department recommends that you purchase the TI-Nspire CX (non-CAS) calculator, especially for IB Higher Level Mathematics candidates, or the Ti-84 Plus CE.
  • These calculators are permitted on IB, SAT, AP, ACT, PSAT/NSMQT, and Praxis exams as well as many state tests. The Ti-Nspire CX comes with software for the mac or pc that lets students easily create, edit and transfer mathematical documents between computer and handheld. The authorization code for the computer software is within the packaging, so be sure not to throw it away.
  • There are many other models of graphing calculators available, but only the Ti-Nspire CX (non-CAS), Ti-Nspire (non-CAS), Ti-84 Plus and the Ti-84 Plus CE will be supported in class. If buying another brand or model, you have to be very careful that it is a model that is permitted at school and in external exams. In particular, Ti-89 and Ti-Nspire CAS version are NOT permitted in IB external exams and these are not permitted at school. The TI-Nspire CX and the Ti-84 Plus CE are not readily available for purchase in Argentina. They can be purchased overseas and a few are available for loan from the Mathematics Department.
