HIGH SCHOOL

Dear HS Community,

It is a busy time of the year at Lincoln with many opportunities for students to be involved, while also challenging them to balance their involvement with the academic demands of the classroom. As the community prepares for the long weekend of carnival celebrations, this is a chance for us to reflect on and look forward to the exciting learning opportunities on our campus.

Pink Shirt Day and Senior Mock Exams

This week we celebrated kindness as students and staff wore pink on Wednesday, coming together in solidarity with schools around the world against bullying and in promotion of small acts of kindness. In advisory class, students learned more about the goals of the day and recognized acts of kindness in their own community.

The coming weeks will mark the halfway point of the 3rd quarter of the school year, which for our seniors brings Mock IB exams and final due dates for their major assessments. All seniors will sit for Mock exams the week of March 10-14 in the auditorium, with no regularly scheduled classes for all 12th grade students. The Mock exams replicate many of the IB exam papers that our seniors will take from April 29-May 21, 2025 and provide teachers with the opportunity to give additional targeted feedback and support.

In the first week of March, we will be sending important information to all Senior families outlining details related to the Lincoln Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2025 as well as major events leading up to this momentous occasion at the end of May.

Join us! Visual Arts Exhibition and Cinemate, March 6, 5:00-7:00 pm

Please join us next week, when our visual arts students will share their work during the IB Art Exhibition and Cinemate, a screening of the IB Film productions created by our students. Families are invited next Thursday, March 6, from 5:00-7:00 pm to view the students’ work at the Art Exhibition and attend the film screenings of the students’ productions. The Cinemate student film screenings will begin at 6:00 pm in Aula Magna, featuring 10 short films that students produced over the last two years, showcasing the development of their skills as directors, screenwriters, editors, sound designers, and cinematographers.

Congratulations to all of our seniors for their creative work over the past two years, and I hope you can join us on Thursday afternoon in the gym lobby at 5:00 pm and later in the Aula Magna at 6:00 pm to celebrate their creations. There will be musical performances by students and snacks with refreshments to accompany.

Interim Grade Reports

Please also know that next week families will be informed via email if their students are currently performing at a level of 3 or lower in any of their classes. Families will receive an Interim Report email outlining the classes of concern. The goal of these reports is to further increase communication and collaboration among the families, teachers, and students in support of their academic performance.

Updates in IB

Grade 12 Mock Exams are scheduled for March 10-14th. Information was emailed to students and families last week and reviewed in-person with students this week. Please contact Sarah Fang with any questions.

HS Parent Coffees

Finally, thank you to all the parents who joined us in the High School parent coffee, which was held virtually this month. Mark your calendar for next month, when we will meet at Lincoln in the Riverside Cafeteria on March 27 from 8:30-9:30 for the next HS Parent Coffee, with the opportunity to receive updates of what is happening in the high school and to engage in conversation about ways we can all support the students.

On behalf of all teachers and staff of the high school, thank you for your ongoing support.

#AllTogether

Warmest regards,

Dave Nelson, Ed.D.
