HIGH SCHOOL
Dear HS Community,
This week has featured an exciting week of opportunities for learning and community building in alternative spaces, with Lincoln Learning Expeditions taking place at each grade level. This year’s Learning Expeditions featured a variety of unique learning opportunities for our students, including integrated science, service, ecology, and geography. It is through this year’s Learning Expeditions that our students and teachers are further exploring potential future possibilities for service learning. The 11th and 12-grade Expeditions fulfill requirements of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), and all grade-level Expeditions provide students the opportunity to develop the Attributes of a Lincoln Learner (ALLs):
- Learner as Thinking and Researcher
- Learner as Self Navigator
- Learner as Agent of Change
- Learner as Communicator
For students who did not take part in the traveling Learning Expedition, an engaging program was designed at Lincoln, with students at the center, as they explored the Lincoln ALLs.
The students and educators are returning from their expeditions on Friday night, so we will upload photos from the trips and share more details about the outcomes in a future episode of the Flying Condor.
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
Grade 9 students completed the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test in English and Mathematics last week. The MAP assessments provide an additional perspective on students’ proficiency and development in these critical areas. We use the results to learn more about our students, and to identify areas of growth, and to plan targeted instruction for them. We can also consider our school’s results, as they are normed against other international schools by grade level. Note that MAP results are not part of the Lincoln grades.
HS Principals Coffee
Parents and guardians are invited to our next Principals Coffee, which will take place Thursday, September 26th at 8:30 am, at Lincoln in the Riverside of the Cafeteria. The High School Leadership team will have the opportunity to share updates from the past month and to look ahead to October, with specifics from IB, CAS, and Counseling. For those who are unable to attend, please know that the October coffee will take place virtually.
Here’s to welcoming Spring and to exciting times for learning ahead as we approach the end of the 1st quarter.
On behalf of the Lincoln faculty and staff, thank you for your ongoing support!
