HIGH SCHOOL

Dear HS Community,

Spring is coming soon and with it many opportunities for learning, both in and out of the classroom.

The High School staff and students are preparing for the upcoming Learning Expeditions from September 16-20, and I want to thank everyone for their care and timeliness with their follow-up and forms. The expeditions are an exciting opportunity for students to explore various environments of Argentina while fostering a greater sense of community and belonging within each grade-level class. The experiences help our students to develop the Attributes of a Lincoln Learner (ALLS) and to further appreciate the opportunities they have, and to celebrate the diversity of our school.  As we explore service learning opportunities, the students and staff will also be investigating how such Learning Expeditions can evolve into possibilities to “learn from and act with” others to serve.

In the coming week, families will receive additional reminders. Here are few things that you can help your teenager to remember in the lead-up to the Learning Expeditions:

  • Read over the packing check-list and pack carefully - warm clothes that can be layered, rain gear, and good shoes are a must!
  • All students must bring their identification on the trip, either their DNI or passport.
  • Discussion of expectations - best behavior as students will not only be representing themselves, their families, and their grade level, but also Lincoln!
  • Departure is really early in the morning, and we must leave on time on September 16th:

-Grade 11 arrive at Lincoln at 4:45 am for departure soon after to Ibera.

-Grade 10 arrive at Lincoln at 5:30 am for departure to La Cumbre

-Grade 9 arrive at Lincoln at 6:30 am for departure to Miramar

The academic semester is unfolding quickly, and you will notice more assessments and challenging work as the classes progress. As well, our 9th grade students will be taking the MAP test in the coming week, September 9-10, at 9:30 am each day.  9th grade students are tested through this computerized adaptive test in the areas of English (Reading and Language) and Mathematics. Students should be sure to have a good breakfast and get plenty of sleep before.

On behalf of the Lincoln faculty and staff, thank you for your ongoing support!
