HIGH SCHOOL

Dear HS Community,

It’s an exciting time in the High School, especially as the students returned this week from the Lincoln break, and as the Seniors complete their final preparation for their IB Exams, which begin next week. Indeed, today, Friday, April 25th, marks the last day of classes for our Seniors, and the rest of the HS students enter the final quarter of the school year. These coming weeks are marked not only by celebrations, traditions, and leadership, but also by academic challenges, goodbyes, and goal setting.

Celebrations, Traditions, and Leadership

April has been a month of vibrant celebrations and cherished Lincoln traditions, highlighted by our recent Earth Week events, athletic competitions, and Spirit Week. From April 21-26, our students engaged in a variety of exciting challenges organized by the Eco-Team, fostering a spirit of environmental awareness and teamwork. On Earth Day, students wore green, participated in the staging of an all-school drone photo, collected bottle caps, and took on eco-friendly challenges throughout the week.

The high spirits didn’t stop there, as our Student Council successfully orchestrated HS Spirit Week to send our Seniors off with encouragement as they prepare for their IB exams. We are proud of our student-athletes who recently showcased their talents and dedication in the SAAC tournaments. Congratulations to our girls' basketball team for finishing 5th and the boys' basketball team for finishing 7th. In tennis, our teams delivered stellar performances with girls finishing 3rd and boys achieving 4th place. Congratulations to our Track and Field Athletes, and a BIG thank you to the families who supported them and welcomed guests during their stay, demonstrating the strength of our community spirit.

We are looking forward to tomorrow’s (April 26th) Buenos Aires Youth Climate Accords, with the opening ceremony beginning at 9:00 AM in the Auditorium. This inspiring event, sponsored by the Eco Clubs of Elem, MS, and HS, encourages our students to take an active role in global climate discussions and initiatives. Following the ceremony, families are invited to join us at the Puerto Libre Inclusive Garden from 9:30 AM until 12 PM for a community gardening event. This hands-on opportunity allows us to support our neighbors and contribute to the local environment, while also giving families the chance to purchase plants for their own gardens at home.

Challenges and Goodbyes

Our Seniors begin their IB exams next week and prepare for graduation at the end of May, marking a period of both academic challenges and pending goodbyes. These exams represent not only the culmination of their hard work and dedication throughout the years but also a stepping stone into their future academic pursuits. Good luck, Seniors - you’ve got this!

Our Seniors also look forward to celebrating at the Junior-Senior Prom on May 24th, sharing stories at the Senior Tea sponsored by Dr. Nada Collins at her residency, swapping signatures in their 2024-25 Lincoln Yearbooks, and reflecting on their achievements during the Academic Awards Assembly on May 28th.   Most importantly, this month will be capped off with the 2025 Graduation Ceremony on May 30, 2025, in the Lincoln Auditorium. This momentous occasion will mark the end of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another.

The final assessment schedule for all students in grades 9-11 will be published soon, with performance-based exams taking place from June 2 to June 6 in regularly scheduled classes for Art, Music, Publications, Estudios Culturales, PE (11-12), and Historia. Within a specially designed schedule, students will sit for exams in their core classes, from June 9-12, in English, Spanish, Social Studies, Math, and PE (9-10). The make-up day will be June 13th, with no regularly scheduled classes.

Finally, June 16th is a holiday.  On June 17, six classes will meet, and on June 18th, we will have an assembly and two more classes, with school ending at 12:00 for the June-July Vacation.

National Honor Society - Note to Parents

NHS logo

Students are now being considered for membership in the National Honor Society, an organization founded in the United States that recognizes high school students for their outstanding achievements in the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Annually, the Lincoln faculty nominates students based on these four pillars. After being nominated, students are invited to apply and submit an application packet to the NHS advisors.

A faculty council selects applicants for membership based on the demonstration of the four pillars within both our scholastic community and the community at large. Details for determining outstanding scholarship criteria, and demonstrated leadership, service, and character can be found at this link. If you would like more details, please feel free to contact Ms.Laura Rock, laura.rock@lincoln.edu.ar, and Ms. Morgan Bayat, morgan.bayat@lincoln.edu.ar, NHS advisors.
