HIGH SCHOOL

lincoln lens

Lincoln Lens is the newspaper of the Asociación Escuelas Lincoln highschool and it is run by the Lincoln Lens Club. We started in September 2016 and since then we have been covering everything from small anecdotes to extensive articles about school and local events.

Our goal is to provide a space in which students that enjoy writing can do so and also a space in which the Lincoln community can be informed of what is going on in our school and its surroundings. Sometimes our writers will interview someone or review anything from books to videogames. We also encourage the students from Lincoln to submit any piece of writing that they want to see published.

We really hope you enjoy our work!

Unveiling the Cherry Red Craze and the Newest Fashion Trends

By Maria Plaza

Cherry red, it's everywhere… used to represent the epitome of American women, young, innocent, feminine, and delicate with a pinch of sensuality. Nowadays, not only the standards but also the meaning of red has evolved to symbolize liberty, elegance, power and rebellion. It is mostly seen in leather items such as bags and shoes, especially jackets but can be used as any item. But how do we style it? According to the color wheel purple would work wonders, same as green, black, or white, if, however, you are into something a little more risque I suggest combining it with animal print.

Amongst the biggest trends, we can also find the increasing amount of sheer fabrics which if properly combined can add an interesting element to any outfit. Since summer will be coming along soon, the beach is a perfect excuse to wear transparent clothes or capri pants; you may hate them, or love them but it is a fact, they are making a comeback.

It is no surprise that the 90s and 2000s (also known as Y2K) have begun reappearing not only on runways but everywhere. In relation to 90’s fashion we have been seeing anything from high square necklines to clean lines, baggy jeans, slip dresses even bubble skirts, only seen in runways for now, but for how long? Regarding 00’s elements we are beginning to see again cargo pants, of course, graphic tees, sparkly clothes, low-rise jeans, long pointy boots, corsets and so much more.

On the left is a clear example of Y2K fashion Kelly Rowland, Beyoncè Knowles and Michelle Willams wearing lowrise jeans with lots of shine and corsets.

Here we can see a semi-transparent dress perfect for the beach and interestingly combined with black.

Editor in Chief

My name is Sofia Gulli, and I am a Senior Student and the Editor in Chief of the 2023 Lincoln Lens Club. Journalism provided me with a platform to correctly express thoughts and opinions in a way that encouraged this same understanding. Lincoln Lens is run by students for students, and we are devoted to building a vibrant community in which our members can not only raise attention to local and worldwide concerns but also voice their individual views and opinions.

Niquelle Fleurijean

Co-Editor

My name is Niquelle (though I go by Kellie), and I am the co-editor of Lincoln Lens! I am a senior and a suffering IB student, and writing articles for Lincoln Lens is a way for me to express the things I don’t have an opportunity to express anywhere else. With this opportunity, I hope to disseminate important messages to the community and provoke thoughtful discussion about everything from history to pop culture, to opinion pieces and creative writing. I also encourage everyone in our school community to be inspired to use their own voice for the greater good.
