For anyone not able to be there in person, it will be live streamed here

Preparing for the Next Grade

With only three full weeks of school remaining, teachers are wrapping up their year and helping students to prepare for the next step in their education journey. Last week, we had kindergarten parents join us at school for a conversation about the transition to 1sy grade. Then on Wednesday of this week, the 5th graders all spent the morning visiting the middle school, speaking with the middle school students, and having some middle school experiences like Advisory class.

Every class in elementary will experience our “Moving up Morning Meeting” on June 11. Students will send questions in advance to the students from the next grade level up and then visit one of those classrooms to talk to the students and hear the answers to their questions.

Follow-up Parent Coffee about Smartphones and Social Media

We had an engaging Parent Coffee regarding smartphone and social media usage a few weeks ago, see the Slides here: ES Parent Coffee  25th April 2025. Our discussion produced some important themes, including how our educational program at school teaches digital literacy (defined as the ability to effectively and safely use digital technologies for finding, evaluating, and communicating information, as well as for creating and collaborating online).

To continue the discussion about this important theme, the May Parent Coffee will be an informational session on our approach to teaching children digital literacy at the elementary level. We will share our curricular plans as well as the resources we use; we will have some additional resources for parents to explore too. It will be online via Zoom and recorded. Parent Coffee Zoom link here.

As always, please contact Mr. Derek, Mr. Chris, or any of our elementary team if you have any questions or concerns!
