Learning over the July Break

The most valuable asset students bring with them to help their learning is their life experiences and background information. Please enjoy the upcoming break and remember that we are always learning and every experience can be a learning experience for your child. Over the break:

  • Take advantage of opportunities to encourage a growth mindset
  • Read for pleasure and ensure that your children see you reading for pleasure
  • Include your child on any problem-solving tasks you take on
  • Use the “think aloud” strategy when your children are around and you are completing a task (paying bills, writing an email, interacting with someone in public, etc.)
  • Encourage independence and allow your child to take risks, this builds competence, which is what will build confidence

Pigeon and Pals, Thank You

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday morning for such a positive and engaging Pigeon & Pals event! Over 100 children read, bowled, crafted, and created with their families here in our Lincoln library. The enthusiasm for reading and creating as a community together was inspirational! Remember that our library is an inclusive place and is open for everyone in our community, it’s not only for our students!

Note from the Nurses about Staying Healthy

Please read the note in the FLying Condor this week from our Nurse Team in the Wellness Center. It is cold and flu season in Buenos Aires and we have a number of elementary students out sick. Help your child practice healthy hygiene habits by encouraging them to wash hands frequently, use a “cough pocket” (covering your coughs and sneezes so they don’t get on others around), and staying home when you are feeling sick.

As always, please contact Mr. Derek, Mr. Chris, or any of our elementary team if you have any questions or concerns!

Thank you for the support!
