ELEMENTARY

Dear Elementary Families,

As we come to the close of the school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome you’ve extended to me and my family during my first year as principal. It has been a true privilege to get to know your children and to become part of this vibrant, international community.

This time of year always brings mixed emotions - celebration for all that has been accomplished, and farewells to families and staff members moving on to new adventures around the world. Whether you are returning next year or heading to a new destination, please know that you will always be part of Lincoln’s story…”Once a Condor, Always a Condor.”

Thank you for your partnership, trust, and support. We wish you a joyful and restful break wherever it may take you.

Learning over the Break

The most valuable resource students bring to their learning is their own life experience and background knowledge. As we head into the break, we encourage you to embrace the idea that learning doesn't pause when school is out—everyday experiences offer rich opportunities for growth. Over the break, consider ways to nurture your child's learning at home:

  • Encourage a growth mindset by praising effort and persistence.
  • Read for pleasure, and let your child see you enjoying books too.
  • Involve your child in everyday problem-solving, whether it’s planning a trip, fixing something at home, or preparing a meal.
  • Try the “think aloud” strategy - narrate your thought process while writing an email, budgeting, or interacting in public.
  • Foster independence and allow your child to take age-appropriate risks; this builds competence, and competence builds confidence.

As always, please contact Mr. Derek, Mr. Chris, or any of our elementary team if you have any questions or concerns!
