Lincoln Students Embrace Their Role as Creative Producers!

Middle school learners presented their original compositions to classmates, faculty, and families during a Music, Art, Design, and Drama Showcase!

MS MUSIC AND ART SHOW 23-24

It’s always inspirational when students embrace their role as communicators and take on the challenge of expressing complex ideas creatively. It’s even more impressive when they share their art with others. As one of the end-of-school-year events last semester, Grade 6 learners presented their original compositions at the Music, Art, Design, and Drama Showcase!

Our young middle school artists have been producing their original work for some time now from rock pieces to pop creations up to instrumental melodies and vocal modern music. Lincoln Music curriculum focuses on teaching healthy vocal/instrumental technique, performance readiness, music theory and music history, and music literacy. They even perform as a Choir and Band in at least 3 events outside the regular school day.

While all these techniques and musicianship skills are key to their development, there is also the need for experimentation and improvisation. As an international school with multiple nationalities and languages, the desire to explore and appreciate global culture is almost inevitable. Such an environment stimulates collaboration and empathy during their repertoire studies and special classes with professional and experienced musicians.

In a multicultural school like Lincoln, students develop a keen sense of being an integral part of a whole. When diversity is cultivated in music, magic happens.

Our local and international teachers encourage our students to become risk-takers and independent musicians. This creativity and self-confidence show in the work of Emma and Amira, two of the students who presented their original vocal modern music at the concert last semester. As true creative producers, their compositions shine on their own! Check them out:
