There has been a recent rise in dengue and chikungunya cases in the province of Buenos Aires. Check out tips to help prevent mosquito bites and reduce risks.
Dengue and chikungunya are both mosquito-borne diseases that can cause severe illness in some cases. As members of our school community, it is important that we take the necessary precautions to avoid catching these diseases. Here are some tips to help prevent mosquito bites and reduce the risk of contracting dengue and chikungunya:
- Wear protective clothing: Cover your skin as much as possible by wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, and socks. Light-colored clothing is also recommended, as mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors.
- Use mosquito repellent and reapply as necessary.
- Keep your surroundings clean: Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, so be sure to eliminate any sources of stagnant water around your home or workplace, such as empty flowerpots, buckets, or cans.
- Use screens or mosquito nets: Use screens on windows and doors when possible.
- Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms such as: Fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, skin rash, eye pain typically behind the eyes.
Please keep these tips in mind and share them with your colleagues, friends, and family. By taking these precautions, we can reduce the risk of contracting dengue and chikungunya to protect our community. We are attaching the epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health.
