ONCE A CONDOR, NOW A FUNDRAISING OFFICER IN THE UNITED NATIONS!

Meet Vanesa Kim, a former student at Lincoln and now a Fundraising Officer within the Private Sector and Civil Society Branch at the United Nations! Get to know where our alum is now! Class of 2017 Edition!

Considering that one of the attributes of a Lincoln learner is focused on communication, it is an immense joy when one of our former students ends up working in that industry. That is the case of Vanesa Kim: an experienced communicator in diplomacy with a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and Social Sciences from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and a Master's Degree from Columbia University. In 2023, she started working in the United Nations as part of the Department of Global Communications. This year, she embraced a new position in that same organization as a Fundraising Officer within the Private Sector and Civil Society Branch. 

We interviewed a dear graduate of the Class of 2017 to reflect on and remember her years at Lincoln. Learn more about her experience as one of our learners!

Who was your favorite teacher? 

Ms. Fang has helped me find so much joy in literature and had such a lasting impact on my life. She was my ninth-grade English teacher and my IB HL Literature teacher during my last two years of high school. I owe a lot to her. 

What Were Your Favorite Classes?

I loved all of my IB HL courses, which included HL Global Politics, HL English Literature, and HL Spanish Literature.

What was your favorite food in the cafeteria?

Since I'm more of a sweet tooth, the lemon ricotta cake was the highlight of my lunch break. It still is!

What is the funniest event or anecdote you can remember of something you did with your friends?

I will never forget the annual StuCo sleepovers we used to do. We would spend hours trying to decipher the clues for the treasure hunt that our teachers planned. It was so much fun.
