New Elementary School Building Begins!

We had a groundbreaking ceremony for the new elementary school building. Learn all about our vision for a vibrant new learning environment that begins to take shape.

breaking ground moment

On June 9, we officially broke ground to mark the beginning of a new chapter for the elementary school. The long-anticipated project marked a significant step forward after five years of strategic planning. The ceremony celebrated the official commencement of a building designed for universal accessibility and modern learning.

The project team diligently worked to get to this exciting milestone. With a design and a construction company selected since last year, visible changes were bound to happen. This past semester, we successfully relocated the elementary school playground to the Middle School field, clearing the way for the new construction.

So, what does the future look like? The new four-level elementary school building is designed with a focus on universal accessibility, incorporating elevators, ramps, and stairs throughout all floors. The first three levels will be dedicated to classroom spaces and the top floor will house the school's library and specialized learning areas. The classrooms will offer a scenic view of the river to provide an inspiring environment for learners, while administrative offices will overlook the street. The new facility will also feature an expanded and improved playground as well as brand new multipurpose and collaboration areas.

School leadership continues to drive efforts to make the future school a vibrant, inspiring, and empowering educational experience for all the community. “We moved on to this campus in 1954, so we are really excited after all this time to be breaking ground,” Superintendent Nada Collins shared during one of the episodes of Lincoln Connects.
