Important Health Update: Increase in Gastroenteritis Cases

The Wellness Center is currently seeing an increase in gastroenteritis cases among our students. Check out the following information on symptoms to watch for and our current health protocols.

The Lincoln Wellness Center would like to inform you that we are currently seeing a surge in cases of gastroenteritis among students at school.

Gastroenteritis commonly presents with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, headache, and general fatigue. This illness can spread quickly in school settings, particularly through close contact and shared surfaces.

We kindly ask families to carefully monitor their children for any of these symptoms. To help protect the health and well-being of our entire school community, please remember our health protocols:

  • Students must be fever-free (without the use of fever-reducing medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen) for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Students must also be symptom-free for 24 hours, including no vomiting or diarrhea, before returning to school.
  • If your child becomes ill at school, you will be contacted to pick them up promptly.

Encouraging frequent handwashing, especially before eating and after using the restroom, is one of the most effective ways to reduce the spread of illness.

We appreciate your partnership in keeping our school community healthy and safe. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Wellness Center office.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
