Gr. 4-8. Meet Professor Bubbles, who presents "the most complete information about bubbles." Includes links to games, activities, tools, and bubble-making tips. Sound and film clips can be downloaded.
Crayola Creativity Central
Gr. K-8. Numerous creative art activities are found at this colorful, kid-friendly site. Kids can print out coloring books, create greeting cards, take a virtual tour of the Crayola crayon factory and answer quizzes. Free registration required.
Funschool
PreS.-Gr.6. This treasure trove of more than 300 interactive games for preschool through sixth grade is divided into appropriate grade levels. A Kids Domain Link takes users to more activities, clip art, and craft ideas.
How Stuff Works
Gr. 4-12. Kids are always intrigued with how things work. Youngsters click onto a wide range of topics, such as mummies, hypnosis, sleep, rotary engines, lock picking, cell phones, and jet engines to learn how "stuff works." An easy-to-use search engine makes the site manageable for younger learners.
National Geographic World
Gr. 2-12. The electronic version of the venerable magazine is a great site for youngsters who can access stories, examine featured animals, take an instant poll, and explore other surprises and activities. Magazine articles are archived as well.
Time for Kids
Gr. 2-5. Explore Mexico, Kenya, Vietnam, Brazil, India and Greece this summer. Options allow children to sightsee, listen to foreign phrases, gather historical information, and take quizzes as they gather passports along the way.
Wacky Web Tales
Gr. 3-8. Another link o the Houghton Mifflin site, this creates an off-the-wall tale after kids fill in a form asking for suggested words (best friend, adjective, verb, teacher's name, etc). The tales can then be submitted for possible posting.
